How 'bout Those Hawks? Team Thoughts.

How about those Hawks?!!!! Isn’t it amazing what happened in the NFC Championship game yesterday? I don’t consider myself a football fan. And I am such a fan of this team!!! They are an incredible example of what can happen when people believe and they rally together as a team. It was completely inspirational first to see what happened, and then to hear different team members giving credit to each other, to their God, and to their belief that they could do it. It was an incredible example of 1 + 1 = 3 in a team environment.

This team has consistently inspired trust—trust in each other, trust in their fans, trust in their outcomes—what a wonderful model we have in our midst. They model so many great things about team. The first thing that comes to mind for me is that thing about TRUST. The things that I read and hear about how they behave on and off the field makes it easy to believe in them. They are faithful in their service in our community. They don’t allow the players who are disruptive and/or ego-centric to stay on their team. They keep believing in each other and in their ability to win—even when it looks so improbable in the final five minutes. It is safe to make a mistake.

It was also amazing to see the players who made mistakes come back and perform powerfully. It is so easy to let our heads get in the way and allow the gremlins to come in and convince us we can’t. Russell Wilson kept his faith in his ability and in his team even after all those turnovers. Even more impactful was the pass that Jermaine Kearse caught after being the target in four interceptions. Wilson said “There was no doubt…we had no doubt as a team.” WOW!!!!

What if we all believed in our team that powerfully? What if we all believed in each other with that level of conviction? What would we be winning?
